The Black Eyed Peas weren’t going to let that stop them from performing for some of their biggest fans! After their NYC Benefit Concert was announced as cancelled, they took it upon themselves to perform a little acoustic set. Check out Just Can’t Get Enough, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Where is The Love?, Pump It and I Gotta Feeling below:
According to Paul Grein, who writes a music column for Yahoo! Music:
The group’s 2009 smash “I Gotta Feeling” becomes the first song in digital history to top the 7 million mark in sales.
The exact number sold this week, and their overall total has not been made public, but congrats are in order for the quartet! Can anyone say, 8 million?
The Today Show staff created this viral video, based on the longest lasting song on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, yes, I Gotta Feeling. Check it out below!
The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” this week becomes the first song to top the 6 million mark in paid downloads. As it happens, the Peas also had the first song to top the 500,000 mark in paid downloads. “Let’s Get It Started” topped 500K in February 2005.
I’ll tell you about another digital record that the Peas set this week. “Imma Be” tops the 3 million mark in digital sales. It’s the third song from The E.N.D. to reach (or exceed) that sales plateau. The E.N.D. is the first album, in its originally released form, to spawn three 3-million-selling digital hits. The expanded versions of Lady Gaga’s The Fame and Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad also contain three 3 million-sellers, but in both cases only two of the three songs appeared on the original releases. (Gaga’s “Bad Romance” was added to The Fame Monster. Rihanna’s “Disturbia” was added to Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded.)
The irrepressible pop band, composed of Fergie, Will.I.Am, Apl.De.Ap and Taboo has sold more downloads – some 3.3 million – in UK chart history than any other group, according to the Official Charts Company.
Managing director Martin Talbot congratulated the band for an “incredible achievement”.
Singer Fergie said: “It’s exhilarating to know we are so connected to our Peabodies.
“Hopefully the good vibes from that song [I Gotta Feeling] will continue to brighten people’s lives.”
And front man and co-founder Will.i.am added: “Wow!!! out of all the artists in the world??? I had a feeling I was supposed to move to the UK”
The feat is yet another triumph for the group which has notched up eleven Top 10 singles – including four number ones – and three Top 5 albums in Britain.
They have sold some 35 million albums and 41 million singles worldwide.
“Black Eyed Peas will forever be able to state that they scored the UK’s first million-selling download and I Gotta Feeling is now firmly established as one of the defining tunes of our time,” Mr Talbot said.
Here is a question answered by Gary Trust on his Billboard “Ask” Column.
Hi Gary,
I’ve read Billboard columns like Chart Beat and the Between the Bullets commentary boxes in the magazine since around 1993 almost every week. I meant to write earlier, but I still think this item makes for great trivia.
The Black Eyed Peas‘ “The E.N.D.” is the first album in more than 23 years to yield three No. 1 singles in the U.K. and on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S.
“Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling” topped U.K. and U.S. charts, while “Meet Me Halfway” reigned in the U.K. and “Imma Be” in the U.S.
Madonna last accomplished this feat in 1986-87 with her album “True Blue”: “Papa Don’t Preach” led the U.S. and U.K. charts, “Live to Tell” and “Open Your Heart” ruled in the U.S., and “True Blue” and “La Isla Bonita” were U.K.-only No. 1s.
I just wanted to spotlight an achievement by the Black Eyed Peas that should not go overlooked.
Thank you,
Elmo Aybar

Hi Elmo,
Thanks for pointing out yet another monumental accomplishment by the quartet. As reported yesterday in Chart Beat, the Black Eyed Peas are the first duo or group to collect five top 10s on the Hot 100 from one album in more than 20 years.
We bring you this video of the Black Eyed Peas Performance at the Kick Off Concert of The 2010 World Cup held in South Africa. THe video includes a medley of Pump It, Meet Me Halfway, Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling. They did more songs, and we will bring those to you soon!
