As of Monday, August 2 the movie has grossed $32,941,836 in the US, and around $61,000,000 worldwide.  It is the second highest grossing movie Stacy has appeared in, following Poseidon in 2006 which garnered over 182 Million around the world.

With four new nationwide releases, the weak box office from May continued onto the first week of June, allowing Shrek Forever After to spend a third weekend in the lead. Overall business hit a 13-year low for the first weekend of June, and it was down 28 percent from the same timeframe last year when The Hangover debuted.

Marmaduke, starring Owen Wilson, George Lopez, Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson, Emma Stone and Lee Pace, opened with $11,599,661 ($300,000 more than expected) in 3,213 theaters along the United States placing it as the 6th highest grossing movie this weekend.

While it opened better than similar movies such as Firehouse Dog ($3,838,916), Furry Vengeance ($6,627,564) and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties ( $7,288,977) it was a ways far from Hotel For Dogs ($17,012,212), Garfield: The Movie ($21,727,611) and Beverly Hills Chihuahua ($29,300,465).

Here is the complete box office top 10:

1 1 Shrek Forever After $25,486,465
2 N Get Him to the Greek  $17,570,955
3 N Killers $15,837,266

It happens all the time: kids see a cute animal in a movie and want one for themselves. They pester their parents into buying their very own Hooch or Beethoven or Benji or E.T. and then discover the very real work that goes into caring for a pet. And then the poor animal ends up in a shelter or, worse yet, abandoned on the street. Thus, the Calgary Humane Society is very much concerned that Marmaduke may spark the next pet craze when it opens on Friday, according to Toronto Sun.

Marmaduke is based on the long-running newspaper comic strip about a Great Dane and features the voice of Owen Wilson as the titular dog, along with Judy Greer and William H. Macy in live-action roles, and Fergie, George Lopez and Kiefer Sutherland lending their voices for the other furry friends.

The Calgary Humane Society cites the live-action 101 Dalmatians and the live-action/CGI mix of G-Force as movies that sparked previous pet crazes. Their main concern is that people do their homework before buying a Great Dane, since they say the breed tends to live short lives and are prone to medical conditions that can rack up hefty bills. They hope people see the movie and say: “Oh, that’s a cute dog, but look how big it is.”

Thanks to Collider, Dutchess Fergie is able to bring you 6 clips from Fergie’s upcoming movie, Marmaduke.

Now living large in Orange County, California, Marmaduke is helping his family make the big transition from the Midwest to The O.C. But he’s also discovering that fitting in with his new four-legged friends isn’t always easy for a 200-pound teenage dog.

Lucky for Marmaduke, he doesn’t have to go it alone because he always has his “step-bro” and best pal, Carlos, a Russian Blue Cat, watching his back.

The movie is in theaters next week Friday, June 4th.  Check out the video below!

Owen Wilson and George Lopez are starring in a new buddy comedy — but this time their characters are canine and feline!

Wilson and Lopez voice a pet pooch and a pet cat from the same family in ‘Marmaduke,’ in theaters on June 4.

‘Marmaduke’ brings to life the lovable Great Dane from the popular comic strip, and in the film, the title dog heads to Orange County, California, where he hits a few speedbumps in his quest to fit in.Kiefer SutherlandJudy Greer and William H. Macy, among other celebs, also star.

Singer Fergie of Black Eyed Peas fame voices Marmaduke’s love interest, and she says, “You know, you’ve got people like George Lopez to spice it up, you’ve got Owen Wilson, who plays Marmaduke, and you can hear these people, and you can hear their personalities come out in the voices, in the characters.”

Marmaduke’s owner, Phil Winslow, is played by actor Lee Pace, and he enthuses, “I read this script and though it was really, really funny. I laughed out loud. The things the dogs say are really funny, I love the relationship between Phil and Marmaduke, I thought it was a lot like me and my dog, you know, that kind of special bond you have with your animal, especially if they’re naughty. I think the family stuff was sweet. It’s [like] a John Hughes movie, except the teenagers are all dogs, and that’s funny!”

Fergie says of providing the voice for her character, “I really love the process of it, because it feels natural and it feels real, and it’s not trying to make some cartoon-y voice for these dogs, it’s the real personalities of these dogs.”
