The Black Eyed Peas have earned the title of the 16th most powerful celebrities, this according to Forbes magazine. When calculating their positions, they took into consideration their gross, TV/Radio appearances, Twitter and Facebook followers, and their influence (politically, socially, or fashion-wise) among others. This is what Forbes stated:
Their Super Bowl set may have earned them critical scorn but the Peas don’t care. The business-friendly rockers grossed $68 million on 62 shows around the world over the past 12 months and added to their coffers with lucrative endorsement deals with Samsung, Pepsi, Honda, Verizon, Chase and others.
Last year, the Black Eyed Peas were also number 16 on the list.

NEW YORK — Although Fergie has a list of things she wants to tackle during her hi
atus from the Black Eyed Peas, being a judge on Simon Cowell’s upcoming X-Factor show isn’t one of them.
Recently there were reports that Cowell was considering the powerhouse singer for the Fox talent competition, which is due to debut in September. But in a recent interview, Fergie eliminated herself from contention.
“You know what? I think that it’s a very committed job that you have to put your time into and I don’t think I’m gonna have that much time, but I love Simon and I would love to do something like that,” she said. “It’s right down my alley, but I just don’t think I have enough time to give and I would want to give everything to those contestants.”
Fergie is still touring with her Peas counterparts, but plans to wind things down. The group has has produced two albums since 2009 — The E.N.D. and The Beginning — sold out arenas worldwide, and performed at this year’s Super Bowl.
Just the idea of another Black Eyed Peas album — which had been rumoured — sent Fergie into denial mode.
“No — I am so excited to take a break. The guys know that I’ve been waiting and it’s time and it’s exciting. We’ve had such a great run together and we’re still touring this year, just less, more selective and we’re not working (on an album). Unless they’re doing one without me,” she laughed.
The 36-year-old singer already has plans for her time off.
“I’m gonna get more into my charities. Charity work. I’m excited to do more of that. Give back, make it not so much about me, me, me, me, me,” she said in an interview last week. “And having some free time. I have a football team that I’m a limited owner of, the Miami Dolphins, and I want to go to a game.”
While she no plans to follow up her multiplatinum 2006 album, The Dutchess, she’s working on expanding her Fergie shoe line, which made its debut at Macy’s last week.
“Seeing the line progress has been wonderful for me because I get to see how things get tweaked. I get to see the different use of materials and these are all things that I’m learning. You know, I wasn’t trying to come into this and say I’m Christian Louboutin. You know this is a venture for me to express my creativity and to learn,” she said.
Fergie launched her Fergie Footwear shoe line with Brown Shoe Co. Inc. two years ago, and it’s starting to get wider traction in major stores. She also had the fragrance Outspoken with Avon and is launching Outspoken Intense in July.
Could a clothing line be next?
“Maybe. Maybe. Like I said, I’m getting more into this whole process and devoting more time to it,” she said. “It’s a new chapter in my life, so I’m looking forward to it whatever it may bring.”
With “X Factor” auditions under way, Simon Cowell is slowly dishing out even more details surrounding the highly anticipated singing competition, including another possible contender for the show’s judging panel: Fergie.
On Thursday (April 7), the former “American Idol” judge confirmed that the Black Eyed Peas songstress is among the many possible additions to the lineup.
“All I can tell you is that her name was put forward,” Cowell said in a conference call with reporters. “But like a lot of other people we’ve spoken to, we have to check out everybody’s availability. There’s a lot of time you have to put into the show, because it’s not a ‘two-day-a-week’ with this. When you’re in the live show, it’s because you’re mentoring the contestant. You’re working five or six days a week.”
As we can recall, Fergie’s name has come up in various reports that she along others such as Jessica Simpson, Nicole Scherzinger, Cheryl Cole, Paula Abdul and Nicki Minaj were being considered as judges. And it’s really no surprise Simon Cowell would like to sign the Fergalicious singer to the judging panel, since in previous interviews he has mentioned that she is one of the artists he really likes.
Tomorrow, for one day only, The Black Eyed Peas along with their Peapod Foundation are teaming up with Aeropostale to release an exclusive t-shirt. The proceeds of the shirt, which can be seen here, will go to their foundation. As well as buying the $10 shirt, a free EP with 3 songs from The Beginning will be given out for free. You can purchase the shirt from 10 am to 1 pm (or until supplies last), and you will be entered to see the peas live in concert.
Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas could be the “mystery superstar” whom “The X Factor” executive producer Simon Cowell has been saying is a recently available contender to be an “X Factor” U.S. judge. British tabloid the Daily Mirror is reporting that Fergie, Cheryl Cole and Paula Abdul are now the top three candidates to be judges on the show.
Cowell and Antonio “L.A.” Reid (former chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group) are the two judges who have been officially announced so far for the show. The show’s other two judges will be women, says Cowell, and they are expected to be announced in April 2011. “The X Factor” U.S. premieres on Fox in September 2011. Many of the episodes will be live.
The only problem with this rumor about Fergie being an “X Factor” judge is that the Black Eyes Peas are launching a major world tour in 2011, beginning May 14 at the United Kingdom’s Carlisle Airport. Will the Black Eyed Peas cease touring during September to December, the months that “The X Factor” U.S. is televised? (The Black Eyed Peas do not have any tour dates announced for those months.)

Fergie is celebrating the sweet smell of success that comes with being a fragrance mogul. The Black Eyed Peas star has been told that her “Outspoken by Fergie” scent is the biggest-selling perfume for Avon to date. The singer celebrated her olfactory ascendancy with a slap-up New York dinner with her husband, Josh Duhamel, and her close friend and agent, Wilhelmina president Sean Patterson.
Congratulations are in order for the dutchess. There has not been one thing that she ventures into that has gone wrong, Fergie Footwear is still going strong, and album sales for The Beginning are stable, nearing 2 million worldwide.
