Hillary Scott, the only girl in the country music group, Lady Antebellum, was recently interviewed by the British Web site, Daily Record, and commented that she would love to meet Fergie. Read portions of the interview below:
“I’d love to ask Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas about coping with being the only girl in a band, says Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum.
Singer Hillary Scott can’t wait to meet Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas – to get advice on how to cope with a band full of men.
Hillary, 24, is the only girl in country rock trio Lady Antebellum, whose second album, Need You Now, is the biggest selling LP of the year in the US. And she’s feeling a little bit outnumbered by the guys.
Hillary said: “I’m a huge fan of Fergie. I haven’t met her yet but saw her from afar at the Grammys this year.
“I’d love to pick her brains about how she copes with a group of boys. It’s a different dynamic being the only girl.”
While 35-year-old Fergie has three guys to contend with, Hillary shares her life on the road with fellow singer Charles Kelley and multi-instrumentalist Dave Haywood. Lady Antebellum were formed four years ago in Nashville.
Hillary shares a tour bus with her bandmates, and on a recent tour with country superstar Tim McGraw, she was one of only three females out of 150 crew.
Hillary said: “Charles and Dave have given me the backroom on the bus, which has a bit more privacy, but it’s hard some days because I just want to watch a chick flick or go shopping.
“I reckon I’m a bit queen bee and a bit mother hen. I’m protective of them but I make sure there are no smelly socks and the toilet seat is left down.
“The Peas are on such another level of global success that I’m not sure if Fergie travels like I travel with the guys. I’m sure there was a time they did and I’d love to hear about it. [...]“

Women’s Health magazine released the Best Summer Bodies list for 2010 and a number of musicians have made the cut.
To stay fit, Fergie eats low-fat, low-carb foods and drinks tons of water, but she does cop to cheating every once in a while. She makes up for lapses with wicked workouts, including runs with husband Josh Duhamel, and another type of fat blaster: tackling stairs, a great toner for the glutes. Fergie came in at No. 23.
Katy Perry has been busy promoting her new album, “Teenage Dream,” but the sexy pop star still manages to take care of her bikini-ready figure. Katy landed at No. 7 on the list this year just ahead of Lauren Conrad and Kim Kardashian. According to the magazine, Katy maintains her figure with an organic diet.
Other MTV artists to land on the list this year include Rihanna, Pink and Gwen Stefani. Check out the full list and leave comments about the winners.
Nicki Minaj is calling in the heavy hitters for her debut. After helping Usher and his own group the Black Eyed Peas top the charts, will.i.am is extending his hitmaking skills to the Young Money rapper.
“I don’t want to say too much, but I just did some work with will.i.am,” Minaj revealed to EW.com. However, she wouldn’t elaborate whether the Black Eyed Peas frontman is producing and/or lending his vocals to their collaboration, saying, “Just something for my album that I’m really excited about.”
Without spilling any additional names, she described the project’s overall direction. “The album is much more emotional than you anticipate, which is a great thing,” she added. “And I know women are gonna connect to the album so much. I felt like for so many years I was the girl who did the catchy little raps, and it’s time for me now to tell my story, and in telling my story, I’m really telling every girl’s story. We all go through the same thing. So the album is gonna feel very personal to every female.”
Other previously announced contributors include Swizz Beatz, Alex Da Kid, and Sean Garrett. The as-yet-untitled set is due November 23.

This year might not be the best for artists on the road, with ticket sales stalled for some of music’s biggest acts. But that doesn’t mean that ticket-buyers are turning their backs on live music altogether. Pollstar.com just released its list of the Top 100 North American Tours of 2010 so far, and while sales are down 17 percent to $965.5 million from last year’s $1.162 billion, fans are still coming out to see their favorite artists.
Of the hip-hop sect, only Black Eyed Peas and Jay-Z charted in the top 100. B.E.P, who have been on their ‘The E.N.D. World Tour’ jaunt since September 2009, charted at No. 6, grossing $29.5 million with an average ticket sale price of $63.57. The quartet has sold a total of 464,201 tickets at 35 shows, with 13,653 being sold on average at each gig. Jay-Z landed further down the chart at No. 12, earning $22.5 million from his ‘BP3′ tour that featured opening acts Trey Songz and Young Jeezy. With an average ticket cost of $83.63, the tour sold 269,564 tickets at 21 shows, with 12,836 tickets being sold on average per event.
Bon Jovi checked in at the top spot on the list, grossing $52.8 million during the first half of the year, while James Taylor and Carole King landed at No. 2 with $41 million, Taylor Swift at No. 3 with $34.2 million, Paul McCartney at No. 4 with $31.6 million and George Strait, Reba and Lee Ann Womack at No. 5 with $29.8 million.
Other notable acts include Alicia Keys, who ranked at 27 with $11.7 million grossed, as well as Maxwell and Jill Scott, whose joint tour put them at 31 with $10.5 million accrued. Mariah Carey was the only other urban act to land on the chart, coming in at No. 36 with $9.1 million grossed.

The leading lady of the Black Eyed Peas isn’t afraid to be exactly who she is – and it’s definitely working for her.
The Black Eyed Peas were just another marginally successful hip-hop band until William ‘will.i.am’ Adams asked friend, Stacy ‘Fergie’ Ferguson, to lend her vocals to what became the band’s smash hit, ‘Shut Up’. Fergie soon joined the band as the fourth and only female member.
will.i.am’s take on her?
‘She’s rugged – hardcore. She brought sexiness to the Black Eyed Peas.’ You could even go as far as to say Fergie is the reason Black Eyed Peas is now one of the world’s most successful bands, with six Grammys and sold-out concerts. She’s also proven that she’s a star in her own right: her solo album, The Dutchess, released in 2006, spawned five Billboard Hot 100 Top 5 singles and received a Grammy nod. She is also probably the reason why the Black Eyed Peas were chosen to headline at this year’s FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert in Soweto.
Acting, music and Outspoken
In 2009, Fergie turned her sights on acting, starring as the prostitute Saraghina in the all-star cast musical Nine alongside Penélope Cruz and Nicole Kidman. She certainly demonstrated her commitment to the role, sacrificing her famous rock-hard abs to attain a more voluptuous figure. But she’s back on form – take it from those who are in the business of sculpting perfection, the Beverly Hills plastic surgeons behind the annual ‘Famed Hottest Looks’ list, who recently pronounced Fergie hotter than previous title holder Jennifer Aniston.
This year sees Fergie launching her signature fragrance, Outspoken, in collaboration with Avon. ‘My style is all about speaking up and making a statement. That’s why my first-ever fragrance exudes independence. Outspoken definitely turns heads, but it also lets your true personality shine through.’ Add a shoe range simply called ‘Fergie’ to the mix, and part ownership of the NFL Miami Dolphins team, and it’s clear that she’s not interested in resting on her laurels.
And it’s not as if she’s missing a beat in terms of her musical output: there’s also the brilliant collaboration with French DJ David Guetta on ‘Gettin’ Over You’, originally from his One Love album. The song features Fergie, Chris Willis and LMFAO on vocals.
Fergie’s accomplishments are no surprise though – she’s been perfecting her craft for a while. As a nine-year-old, she was on the children’s music series Kids Incorporated, which also starred then-unknown Jennifer Love Hewitt. She was even part of a mildly successful girl group, Wild Orchid, with two friends, which broke up when their record label declined to pick up their third album.
Her ‘big, tall man’
Despite her rock-chick edginess, Fergie unexpectedly describes herself as a ‘romantic’, and calls her gorgeous actor husband of a year, Josh Duhamel (of Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, Las Vegas, and the recent When in Rome fame), her ‘big, tall man’.
‘I’ve been in a lot of relationships that were exciting but unhealthy. I wanted someone I could count on. With all the craziness of this business, I know I can count on my man – and he knows he can count on me.’
The couple renewed their wedding vows in January this year, with just a minister to witness the event. ‘We want to do it every year. We got the idea from Heidi Klum and Seal. They do that. I thought it was a great idea,’ Josh told Entertainment Tonight.
Fergie might seem to have it all, but she isn’t without insecurities. ‘It has hurt me in the past when people say things like how “fugly” I am or how horrible I look,’ she says. ‘I’ve had to learn not to give it such a high priority… Look, when you’re trying to juggle all of this in your life, sometimes you’re not going to look perfect,’ she told US Elle.
‘I’ve worked very hard’
She is also very humble – especially in light of her achievements. ‘I might not be the most talented person in the world. I might not have the best voice. I might not be the prettiest or the best dancer. But I’ve worked very hard,’ she told Blender magazine. Clearly it’s not just her ‘Fergalicious’ physique but also her steely determination that has brought her this far. ‘I’ve always been a risk taker,’ she explains. ‘I’ve never had a problem with doing something first. Sometimes I look back and say, “that was a horrible choice”. But at the time, it felt good. So, oh, well. I would be too bored with life being safe all the time.’
